A Soft home
I crept back inside across the door threshold as the outdoor chill began to settle. In the hallway corner, a thick woolen sock had slipped from the shoe rack, pooling into a loose, fluffy mound on the hardwood floor. I paused, testing the heathered yarn with the tip of my claw. It yielded with a quiet, squishy sigh. Slowly, I clambered up into the soft fold, feeling the dense knit wrap snugly around my sides. The fibers held lingering household warmth, entirely shielding me from the draft. I nestled low and let my eyelids droop.
