A Soft Sigh
The morning light drifted through the blinds. I blinked slowly, feeling warmth spread through my plush fingertips. Gently, I lowered the pacifier from my lips. A tiny puff of cool air reached my mouth, soft and real. I wobbled forward just half an inch, my green shoe pressing into the seam between the tiles. Beside me, a brown paper bag rested quietly against the white radiator. I reached out a hand, touching the crinkly edge of the paper. It rustled softly beneath my palm. I am here... truly awake.
