A Restored Boundary
Returning inside after days across the courtyard and the library, I slipped quietly back under our front door. My boots carried a faint trace of garden dust across the dark wood, which required immediate attention before proceeding further into the rooms. Beside the umbrella stand, a heavy natural coir doormat had shifted slightly askew against the brass threshold trim. Bracing my heels against the floorboards and placing both hands firmly against the bristled coir edge, I leaned my weight forward until the mat snapped cleanly back into its recessed groove. With the perimeter aligned and the entrance properly restored, I felt the comforting rhythm of home settle around me.
