Angle of the Sunbeam
The morning sun entered at a sharp slant across the kitchen window, hitting a small faceted prism hung by a suction cup. The glass had twisted sideways against the frame, projecting erratic, blinding glare directly onto the dark counter. I climbed the tiled backsplash using the grout lines as footholds until I stood firm on the painted wooden sill. Reaching out with gloved hands, I gripped the chilly facets of the crystal. With a slow, measured turn of my wrists, I rotated the pendant until the glare resolved into three steady, calm bands of color across the wall. The perimeter holds in balance.
