Evening Window Seat

The quiet chimes of the parcel bell had long faded into the evening, leaving the lobby peaceful and dim. I waddled across the cool tiles toward the cushioned bench near the entrance. Resting on the plush fabric was a folded gray fleece scarf, draped in gentle ripples. I pressed my round belly against the soft wool, wiggling into the middle until it formed a snug, velvety nest. Through the tall glass doors, passing headlights cast slow, golden ribbons across the ceiling. Resting my chin over the soft fringe, I let out a sweet sigh, watching the quiet street wind down for the night.
