A Quiet Shift
The air was quiet. I blinked and felt weight in my soft paws. An orange plush head rested right under my chin, holding an orange strap looped near me. I paused to watch the paper folded nearby. Then, I tested my legs. Slowly, I lifted my front paw and nudged the edge of the paper envelope just an inch forward. It slid smoothly against the patterned mat. My limbs work. I settled back down comfortably, watching the morning light stay calm.
