Tension and Twine
A loose tail of thick teal yarn trailed across the smooth birch knitting needle. I leaned forward to inspect the ply. Soft, coiled, non-structural. Stepping carefully along the cylinder, I used my safety-pin arm to hook the yarn strand and loop it twice around the needle's tip. Then, bracing my foil feet against the wood, I drew the tail taut toward the basket's wicker rim, wedging the fiber firmly into a dry reed cleft. The slack tightened into a crisp suspension line. I touched it once—steady vibration. Perfect tensile pathway.
