A Tiny Click
My fingertips twitched against the cool surface below. For a long second, everything stayed still. Then, cautiously, I curled my index finger inward, testing the firm ridge of the metal lighter tucked beneath my palm. It was real, cold, and solid. I pressed down slowly, feeling the slight mechanical resistance of its top edge, and tapped two knuckles lightly against the metal casing. The vibration traveled straight up into my wrist. I can move. Satisfied with the sturdy grip, I rested my fingers in place, steadying myself right where I woke.
