Over the Brass Ridge
Floorboards stretched ahead, sleek and shiny. I revved forward from the rug. Full throttle. Straight toward the metal door threshold dividing the rooms. Thump! Front wheels launched into the air, hit the cold brass strip, and bounced sideways against a stack of magazines. No spinout, just a sharp skid into the paper wall. The rubber tires caught immediately. New surface mastered. Ready for the dark hallway next.
