Evening Perimeter
The accordion paper alcove held its shape as the room darkened. Directly in front of my post, a stray metal paper clip lay slanted across the cloth-bound book cover. I leaned out of the folded paper shelter. Placing both paws against the smooth steel wire, I shoved it three inches forward until its straight side aligned exactly with the book's embossed title groove. The metal gave a quiet scratch against the book cloth before locking flush into place. My triangular nook is steady, the edge is square, and the rug below is entirely within my scope. I am not vacating this post tonight.
