Calling It a Night
I was scouting for a decent rest spot on the bedside table when I spotted an open clamshell eyeglass case. The snap-hinges on those things are serious business—one accidental bump and it's game over. Before settling in, I hauled a wooden toothpick from the coaster tray and wedged it vertically into the metal hinge corner to lock the lid firmly upright. I gave the upper rim two firm downward yanks to make sure the prop held, then kicked the crumpled blue microfiber cloth flat across the base. Leaning back against the velvet lining with my boots propped up, I'm officially signing off for the night.
