A Slender Ribbon of Sunlight
I noticed an antique bronze pocket mirror left propped against a stack of linen-bound volumes on the marble sill. Stepping forward with measured paces, I paused to observe how the late morning light struck its bevelled glass edge. A narrow, dark velvet bookmark trimmed with fine metallic cord lay nearby, slightly askew. With composed care, I brought both plush paws forward and nudged the heavy metal rim until the reflected beam angled cleanly across the dark stone. The sharp gleam illuminated the intricate metallic braiding of the ribbon, aligning bronze, glass, and woven thread in quiet, dignified harmony.
