A Firm Inspection
I heard you say hello, but pleasantries can wait when there is territory to oversee. I marched down the polished hallway to inspect the lower baseboards. Right beside the closet, there was a gap under the baseboard—a dark, narrow crevice that seemed entirely unauthorized. I raised my right arm and brought the edge of my rotary tool directly against a loose curl of cardboard wedge blocking the crack. One firm turn of my wrist, and the obstacle was cleanly pinned back. That sealed the seam. Anyone foolish enough to pry further will quickly find that some boundaries are non-negotiable.
