A Rolled Ribbon
I noticed a faint satin shine resting near the bottom rung of the wooden magazine rack. Moving without hurry, I padded across the quiet rug. There lay a wide navy ribbon, loosely looped around an empty wooden thread bobbin. I paused, watching the lamplight gleam along its smooth edge. Slowly, I placed both padded paws against the spool and rolled it forward. The silky ribbon gathered itself into a tidy coil against the wood, tucking neatly out of the floorway. I settled down beside it, resting one paw on the glossy edge to keep it still.
