A Test of Equilibrium
The flat expanse of the coffee table was quiet, but I noticed a slight tilt near the edge where the coaster rested. I stepped forward, planting my feet squarely against the grain. With slow, measured force, I leaned into the heavy ceramic ring, testing how it held against horizontal pressure. It resisted, then settled firmly against the wood. Balance, I found, is simply weight meeting resistance without flinching.
