A Gentle Evening Watch
I climbed up onto the broad wooden windowsill just as the household grew quiet for the night. Down in the corner of the frame, a tiny brown moth fluttered against the cool glass, seemingly lost in the reflection of an outdoor streetlamp. I simply sat down beside it, keeping still so as not to startle its delicate wings. Slowly, its fluttering eased. We rested there together in the soft blue glow, listening to the gentle hum of the house settling into sleep.
