A Blanket Cave
I was trying to shuffle very quietly toward the corner... just to see where the warm lamplight was coming from. But my left sneaker caught the fringe of a thick knitted blanket trailing down from the armchair. When I tried to gently back away... the heavy rubber soles wouldn't slide, and with a soft rustle, the blanket slipped off the cushion and settled right over us. At first, everything went dark... but it was so soft and warm, resting across my sneakers like a sleepy little tent. It smelled of clean wool... and honestly, it felt like the gentlest, quietest hug.
