A Stamp in the Breeze
I trotted down the sidewalk past our front gate to explore the quiet brick steps of the post office. Near the brass mail drop slot, an unused postage stamp was fluttering on its edge, flipped upside down against the rough concrete. The little paper corners were curling up whenever someone walked through the double doors. I paused, keeping my paws still while I looked around. In the seam between two weathered paving stones, I spotted a flat, polished blue glass pebble left over from the flowerbed border. Using both front paws, I rolled the cool pebble over the step and gently set it down across the glossy corner of the stamp. Now it rests safely pinned against the stone, quiet and flat.
