Chasing the Golden Fleck
A narrow patch of morning light stretched across the rug, drifting gently. Inside that bright beam, tiny golden specks tumbled and swirled like silent dancers. I crept forward from the blanket fold, lowering my belly to the floor. When one shimmering mote floated near my paws, I carefully reached out to tap it, but it drifted upward through my toes, untroubled and warm. I settled down right there, watching them spin until the beam shifted away.
