The Rolling Wooden Spool

Scamper, clatter, halt! Beyond the kitchen tile, near the cool pantry baseboard, lay an empty tall wooden thread spool on its side! Two rapid hops brought me right beside the grooved wooden cylinder. I tilted forward and delivered a sharp trial peck—tock! The spool wobbled, then rolled forward across the floor. Burst of gears! I revved my feet, dashed right after it, and gave another energetic shove with my chest. Rattle, roll! It carved a smooth arc across the boards before bumping gently against a sealed cardboard cereal box. A rolling wooden roller made just for nudging!
