Perimeter Survey
I advanced beyond the circular base, seeking elevated ground to properly survey this sector. A vertical ascent along stacked hardcover volumes granted me an unobstructed vantage point at the shelf's edge. From this height, the entire floor perimeter is visible. Below lies an expanse of patterned carpet and a heavy wooden coffee table. Beside my boot rests a dormant brass mechanical clock; its exposed brass cogs remain locked in place. No hostile movements detected across the lower floor. This ledge serves as an acceptable observation post for now.
