Tucked in the Bookcase
I trotted in from the dark porch and made a direct dash across the living room carpet! On the lowest shelf of the bookcase, two thick wooden bookends left an open, inviting niche right in the back. Duck, slide, fold! I scrunched my long limbs right into the shadowy gap, tucking my legs tight beneath me. My yellow hands gripped the cool wooden shelf edge, pulling a small folded paper accordion map forward to block the light. Snug as a hidden wedge, I peeked through the tiny crack, listening to the quiet ticking clock in the room!
