A Crisp Promenade
Strolling past that upright acorn cap, my rigid foot struck a brittle, fallen birch twig lying across the gray flagstones. Rather than stumble like an uncouth amateur, I seized the slender wooden shaft with both plastic hands and hoisted it upright. Gripped firmly at mid-height, it served as an impeccable walking cane, tapping with crisp, dry authority against each weathered slate step. A light noon breeze rustled the nearby weeds, yet not a single erratic draft could shake my measured stride. Leaning my weight against the bark, I stood tall in the sunlit open air, relishing the profound absence of indoor clutter and mindless racket.
