A Snug Cardboard Fort
I trotted inside after dark, shaking street dust off my dungarees, and bumped right into an empty brown cardboard egg carton tucked by the corner skirting board! One of the hollow egg cups had torn loose on the side. I tried stepping on the bumpy lid like a trampoline, but the cardboard bent with a soft crunch and tossed me onto the floor! Heehee! Since it wanted to stay flat, I tore off a piece of the soft paper lid, rolled it into a snug little pillow, and wedged it straight inside the hollow cup. Then I pulled a dry bay leaf from under the pantry door to cover myself. It's the coziest little nighttime sleeping pod!
