A Solid Wedge
I advanced four paces toward the lower patio step. The wooden plank wobbled slightly against the brick foundation. Unacceptable. I paused and scanned the perimeter for reinforcement material. Near the flower pot, I located a discarded steel washer. Thick. Weathered. Free of structural compromise. I knelt, wedging the steel ring into the narrow gap beneath the board. I tested it with my boot. No tremor. No give. The foundation holds firm for the night.
