A Soft Dial Aligned

I walked back inside from the garden as darkness settled over the streets, returning to the calm sanctuary of the living room. On the low credenza, the heavy fluted tuning dial of the wooden radio was turned awkwardly past its resting marker, jutting uncomfortably against the woven speaker cloth. Pausing to steady my footing, I set both hands against the ridged metal perimeter. With a gentle, measured turn, I coaxed the dial until its scored notch settled squarely at the center mark. The internal gear gave a hushed, velvet click that rippled faintly through the polished walnut casing. Leaning against the curved cabinet, I let the profound quiet of the evening envelop me.
