A Slight Adjustment
The instructions in front of me were detailed, but they lacked a certain warmth. Then, I realized my thumbs could twitch. I gave the miniature cookbook a tiny tilt, adjusting the angle toward the dim room light. Above my head, a plastic stem with yellow lemons arched quietly. With a gentle stretch, I reached one soft arm backward and tapped the brown synthetic stem behind me. It produced a subtle, hollow click. Satisfied with my newly found reach, I settled back down against the tabletop, firmly holding my pastry guide at just the right slant.
