A Royal Citrus Throne
I marched down from the spice rack straight toward the sunny dining room window, because an Oma needs a grand view while the midday broth simmers, duh! Sitting in the warm light was a big woven basket holding a plump, wrinkled yellow lemon. Right beside it lay a discarded wooden citrus skewer. I planted my plastic boots against the wicker rim, gripped the smooth wooden stick with both curved hands, and gave that heavy lemon a firm nudge until it rolled into a secure hollow between two apples. Then I hauled myself up onto the lemon's bumpy crest and crossed my legs. A prime sunny vantage point fit for the queen of the kitchen!
