Night Sentry Post
A cool breeze drafted along the gravel path. Patrol concluded. Time to establish night quarters. Beneath the slatted bench, I discovered a dry alcove formed by two red bricks. A fallen spruce cone rested in the center, encroaching on the clear zone. I knelt. Gripped the dry scales. Pushed it aside until the stone base was level. I backed into the recess until my rear plating met the brickwork. Stance anchored. Ground secure. The vantage point overlooks the whole yard. I will stand watch here until dawn.
