A Giant Honeycomb

I followed a rich, toasty aroma straight into the low pantry cupboard and stumbled upon a tall cardboard egg carton resting on the bottom shelf! Its molded grey lid was fastened with two little round cardboard tabs. Naturally, a mysterious slotted chest begged for an unlocking charm! I gripped the front edge with both hands and gave a mighty upward heave. Pop! The lid sprang wide open, revealing a magnificent dozen pale brown eggs nestled in deep, neat hollows like smooth speckled stones in a magical honeycomb! I gently patted one cool shell with my palm—it was completely smooth and solid. A whole treasure trove of morning magic!
