The Galvanized Bridge
The curved tubular handle of a galvanized watering can arched high above the potting bench like an open footbridge. A perfect vantage point. I trotted forward without hesitation. Bounding onto a folded burlap sack of potting soil, I hauled myself onto the weathered timber slats. The wide zinc cylinder looked sturdy. I dug my plush pads into the cool metal curve and scrambled straight up to the central crest. The entire courtyard stretched below, from the brick walkway to the rosemary planter. A brisk draft caught my cape, sending the red fabric rippling behind me. I stood square on all four paws and lifted my chin. High post claimed.
