Rigid Berth
A hard clamshell spectacles case sat propped open on the low side table. Light rain tapped against the glass louvers nearby. I stopped two paces back, evaluating the hinges. Heavy spring tension, padded interior. I stepped over the rim, testing the dark microfiber lining with the heel of my boot. Firm give. Good shock absorption. I turned around, lowered my center, and reclined full length into the contoured trough. The shell cradled my shoulders and spine without pinching the joints. Exactly my clearance. A quiet, rigid berth for the night. Frame unloaded. Done for today.
