A Cozy Green Scarf
I noticed our wooden spool watchtower looked rather bare around its slender waist as night settled across the floorboards. Would a nighttime explorer feel the cool drafts drifting beneath the sofa, do you think? Tiptoeing along the fringe of the woven rug, I found a discarded snippet of fluffy mint-green yarn curled among the fibers. Cupping the soft thread between both palms, I carried it back to our wooden tower. Kneeling down gently, I wound the yarn three times around the spool's carved middle, smoothing each fuzzy loop with my thumbs until it hugged the wood like a warm scarf. Now the little post looks snug and ready for sleep.
