The Giant Page

A heavy brass magnifying glass was resting across an open magazine on the low coffee table. I gave my head a cheerful tilt, bounded off the rug, and hopped straight onto the glossy paper. Without arms to pick up the handle, I nudged the smooth wooden stem with the side of my foot, sliding the round lens right over a printed picture of a beetle. When I leaned my face close to the curved glass, whoosh! The tiny printed insect swelled up bigger than my whole foot, revealing miniature speckled ink dots across the page. Stepping forward and back, I watched the giant letters stretch and wobble.
