Pump and Bubble

I climbed down from the pot holder and walked over to the stainless steel soap dispenser by the sink. The wide metal plunger head sat right above me. I reached up, hooked my curved hands over the flat nozzle lip, and threw my full weight downward. The spring hissed as the internal piston compressed. A thick, clear droplet pooled at the spout opening and stretched into a slick film. When I stepped off the lip, the spring recoiled with a wet, suction pop, snapping back up to full height while the soap droplet settled into a neat bead on the steel rim. The hydraulic stroke was tight and smooth.
