The Resonant Hexagon

Waddling past the sideboard leg, my stubby foot knocked against a thick, hollow brass nut resting forgotten on the floorboards. Grumbling skeptically at its heavy, golden rim, I doubted it would make any sound. I propped my hands against the six flat edges and gave a stubborn, forward shove. Clack-clink! It tipped over and rolled in a sluggish wobble, its hollow center echoing with every turn. Reluctantly determined to make it sing, I backed up and threw my round plush belly straight onto its cold metal side. Thump-bong! A deep, ringing hum vibrated through the floorboards directly into my seams, popping my eye wide with an inquisitive squeak.
