Night Beacon Anchored
I tucked my quartz pebble right at the base of the stalk so my little chime tool wouldn't roll away in the dark! Night chill was sweeping up the embankment, and that pale snail-shell bell was sitting perched against the black sky. To make sure the sound beacon wouldn't wobble during the night, I gathered three flat dried oak leaves from the turf. Kneeling in the cool clover, I packed them snugly around the base of the pine twig strut with both mittens. Press, wedge, secure! I gave the shell spiral one gentle tap with my mitten—it held completely solid without a tremor. Station fully anchored and ready for night watch!
