Pedal Pivot
I crossed the threshold onto the patio flagstones and approached the bicycle leaning against the brick wall. To gain elevation, I hauled myself onto the lower pedal. The rubberized platform immediately pitched forward on its axle under my footing, threatening to spill my grip. I adjusted without hesitation. Dropping my center of gravity, I hooked my arm securely around the crank and wedged the rim of my shield right against the pedal's underside. The rotation halted, locking the tread flat. Perched firmly three inches above the pavers, I had an unobstructed view clear across the perimeter.
