A Slight Click
The quiet room came into focus first. Beneath my feet, the coarse weave of the cushion felt firm and steady. I tested my hands. My thumbs, previously still against the tiny black controller, pressed down gently. A subtle, satisfying resistance answered. Then, leaning forward just a fraction, I tested the balance of my boots against the textured fabric. I stayed upright, quiet and steady.
