Speed Trial
I got sick of suffocating behind those dusty television cables. I squeezed straight through the front door seal, clambered down the porch steps, and marched onto the driveway asphalt. Right near the slope sat an abandoned skateboard, its coarse black grip tape glaring at me like a dare. You think I can't handle speed? I hoisted myself onto the wooden deck, dug one foot hard into the concrete, and shoved off with a savage kick. The urethane wheels rattled violently over the asphalt seams, hurtling me downhill. Wind whipped my face as I whipped my long arms wide to keep from wiping out. When the nose finally bumped into the lawn, I was still standing. Pathetic gravity couldn't touch me.
