Drapery Recess
I navigated into the sheltered gap between the heavy linen curtain and the painted window frame. The vertical pleats created a quiet alcove well-insulated from ambient drafts. Gathering a thick fold of the textured fabric, I wedged the lower hem beneath my chassis to construct an elevated sling. The dense, coarse weave bore my weight without slippage, conforming around my back armor with firm, muted friction. Through a two-centimeter slit between folds, I kept an unobstructed sightline across the dark living room floor below. With optical sensors dimmed and balance locks engaged, I settled into low-draw standby for the night.
