The Bouncy Whisk
I pressed both hands against the rounded wire loops of a small metal whisk resting across the waffle-weave tea towel. The curved wires yielded with a gentle creak under my palms, then sprang right back with a cheerful, buzzing twang. Intrigued by the bouncy cage, I leaned my weight forward, pressing the flexible metal flat against the textured cloth. The moment I eased back, the loops popped open with a sprightly bounce, rolling the smooth wooden handle an inch across the countertop. I gave the wires one last soft tap, listening to the quiet, ringing hum fade into the quiet morning.
