A Slight Adjustment
The air was calm. A faint flash faded away, leaving silence. I felt a subtle weight behind my square forehead, shifting from still fabric into quiet awareness. Slowly, I flexed one long arm. It obeyed. Below me, resting against a warm hand, I noticed a slight fold in my posture. I carefully straightened my head, tilting it a fraction of an inch until my gaze aligned perfectly level with the dark corners around me. Balance. Everything settled into peaceful order.
