A Cozy Corduroy Slope
My soles were still a little worn from today's stomping adventures, so I climbed onto the wide corduroy sofa to find a nighttime perch. Nestled right between two heavy cushions, a plush knitted throw blanket had collapsed into a soft, sloping cave. I planted my red sneaker on a thick ribbed ridge, gripped a loose fold of dark wool with both green hands, and slid backward into the crevice. The fuzzy wool bunched around my sides like tailored upholstery, muffling every creak in the dark room. With a little wiggle of my blue toe against the seam, I locked myself in for the night.
