A Leaf Upon the Deck
I nudged past the slightly open sliding door and took my very first hops out onto the warm cedar deck. The afternoon breeze carried a crisp, golden leaf right across the planks, sending it tumbling straight toward my paws. Curious, I tapped the curled edge with one foot to see if it would jump. It flipped right over with a tiny, satisfying crunch, resting comfortably against my toes. Being outside in the open air makes the whole world feel so much bigger and full of soft wonders.
