A Ringing Roll
A tiny silver jingle echoed right by the basket! Chirp? I tilted forward, wiggling my paws across the soft carpet. Resting by the woven rim was a hollow metal bell, shimmering softly under the warm floor lamp. I tapped it with one stubby front paw—*ding-a-ling*! It wobbled and rolled in a neat, shining circle right across the braided threads. Chirp! When it bumped gently against my side and settled, I tucked my round belly close against its cool, polished curve.
