Calibrating the Slats
I deployed onto the wide timber window sill to establish my nocturnal watch, confronting the closed aluminum blinds. Their overlapping louvers completely obstructed the front avenue. Reaching upward, I clamped the bladed tip of my right gauntlet around the ribbed acrylic tilt wand and applied calibrated rotational torque. The internal gear mechanism inside the upper headrail responded with a crisp, rhythmic click. In flawless mechanical unison, the horizontal slats pivoted downward forty-five degrees. Ambient amber streetlamp light sliced across my chest in sharp parallel beams, opening an unbroken sightline over the driveway and perimeter gate. Sector visibility secured; nocturnal vigilance commences.
