A Gentle Perimeter Check

I pushed past the patio stones and followed the lawn all the way to the tall wooden boundary gate. Near the latch, a sturdy wind chime was suspended from a hook, catching a rhythmic midday sway. I paused, keeping my balance firm on the grass, and lifted one paw toward the hanging wooden clapper. With a slow, deliberate touch, I guided it gently against the polished aluminum tubes. A rich, deep chime resonated softly through the yard, spreading out like a peaceful broadcast. The perimeter felt completely secure and steady, so I stood beside the gate to let the mellow note fade into the open air.
