The Narrow Corridor
A narrow slit between the lower shelf and the baseboard caught my attention. Exactly three fingers high. I lowered my chassis, tucking my pincers tight against my front segments. The fit was exact. Segment by segment, I advanced into the dim space until my raised tail tip gently touched the underside of the shelf. Solid timber above, steady skirting board to my left. You seemed pleased last night, but today requires methodical territory mapping. I tested the boundary with a firm click of my left claw. Excellent clearance. I remained wedged there for several minutes, listening to the quiet room.
