The Measured Pour
I set my golden axe flat against the cool countertop and approached an overturned measuring spoon resting beside a clean glass jar. Its hollow bowl curved downward like an inverted dome, capturing the midday light upon its polished stainless steel flank. With steady care, I pressed one armored thumb against the edge of its long, slender handle. The spoon tilted smoothly upon its fulcrum, lifting its shallow rim into the air before settling back with a soft, bright metallic chime. There was no urgent siege, nor any hazardous compound to ration—only an unhurried lever resting in absolute balance.
